Hi there! I'm Retro, I'll be working on this website slowly. Expect frequent, miniscule updates!
About the page
Thank you for visiting my tiny corner of the web! I heard about neocities a while ago and decided to finally make a website here. I hesitated a lot to get started on this project... but now that it's up I have to work on it! Expect more pages to come like: poetry! character mood boards! media reviews! browser games! I go by RetroactiveGhost most places on the internet, say hi if you see me around :) The idea for the name came when I trying to come up with a new username to play a game with my best friend back in high school. I liked the idea of a paradoxical name, not the living dead, but along that lines. But what is a ghost in the past? A retroactive ghost would be a living person! So again, welcome to my graveyard for the living.About me
I'm 26 years old (she/her) and chronically sleepy. (Me) Right now I'm learning html, css, and python for fun, and seeing how far I can take these hobbies! Some of my long term goals with learning these skills are to make a website based ARG, visual novels with Ren'py, and browser games!A few of my favorite things:
- Some of favorite pokemon are Glaceon, Jigglypuff, Greninja, Quilava, Dustox, Frosslass, Diancie, and Mismagius
- Yugioh GX is peak
- Madoka Magica and Code Geass are my favorite anime
- The Good Place and Joe Pera Talks With You are must watch shows for everyone
- Taco Bell is the best fast food chain
- Check out The Wandering Inn to read my favorite book series

Extra extra small update today! I'm back from my trip, visiting family and am so so excited to get back to working on this page! The work I've been doing isn't visible, but I've downloaded Hugo and have been messing around with it! I'm getting used to it, but this is going to be a longer term project before I make a them I like and use it to implement the blog pages I dream of <3 Also got rid of the meta data tag I mentioned in the previous blog almost immediately, pulling that up on my phone made me gag, it was soooo much worse ;-; No big improvements, minor changes in adding some more links to the links page, I've got to get that page looking nicer soon! Hopefully I'll have time to get some of my ideas added in soon.
Speed idea dump: More character pages, buttons for the links page, add shadows to these div boxes, highlight characters with pages when hovering, About me page

This is going to be a small update. Not a lot of work with the website got done. However, I watched a tutorial for how to setup Hugo! The scope of what a static site generator can do is a lot bigger than I was expecting. LOOOTTS of new plans for how I'm going to use that once I implement it. Also started looking into python web frameworks, hopefully I can get a grasp on that and do something fun soon! I'll be out of town for a few days visiting family so I won't have a lot of time to work on the website sadly. Next update out is going to take a while, but I think Hugo is going to be the next big change! Also, I found out the nav bar background broke minesweeper customization, soooo I've removed the navbar background for that page. That's going on the backburner until I can figure out how to customize it more :(
What's new!
- Atabooks guestbook!
- Gif added to minesweeper page!
- Meta data tag added that might help wiith layout? We'll see!

We've got backgrounds! More pages! !!BLINKIES!! and many many cosmetic updates! I'm pretty happy with how these cosmetic updates went. I didn't touch the minesweeper page but that can be a goal for another day. Not many updates other than that, but I'm starting to get comfortable with html/css and was able to experiment with containers a lot. With that, I deem my previous goals complete! Time to set new ones.
Don't forget to click on Mami Tomoe on the main page before leaving!
- Learn how to use a static page generator for this blog!
- Setup atabooks on the home page to replace the current guest book!
- Make a links/resources page!
- Add sound effects and UI updates to the minesweeper game!
- Make the navigation bar scroll the size of the page!

We've got games! I didn't plan to setup a second page on the website yet, but by popular request (my wife), we now have minesweeper! I don't know any java yet so I found the code elsewhere, thank you Vedran Sego wherever you are. The color scheme was tweaked a bit but otherwise I have no idea how to modify it so it's gonna existi in that form for the forseeable future. I looked around for some backgrounds but wasn't happy with anything I tried. I really like the color scheme I have going so far. Rather than a background across the whole site I think I'll try to spruce things up with gifs and images around the page. Oh! And with backgrounds on small parts of the page, like the snazzy new bubble background on these blog posts! Other updates are the divider at the top of the blog and the heart dangling above the table of contents! Speaking of my table of contents, I dont know why it's pushing the rest of the page down? The tutorial I used to set it up didn't cause that, I'll have to troubleshoot that next time I work on the website. I wanted to set up a footer today with a link to jump back to the top of the page, got sidetracked by cosmetics and minesweeper.
Oops
I think that covers most of my early goals so far too? For the next steps:
- Make a footer!
- Gifs! Tuturu!
- Add some sounds to the minesweeper game, if I can figure it out (let's go gambling!)
- Fix the table of contents!
That's all for today!

I've got a little sidebar setup to link to different devlogs! This should help for the time being with visuals :). I'm really strugling with getting my log to start down below the image though? Very much a point of confusion for me. I've been going through the beginner html/css tutorials linked on neocities and I think I just haven't found the lesson yet! Figuring out a jank method to get it to work though? FREEING. THANK GOD.
This format isn't my favorite so I hope to outgrow it, I bet when I think about how I set this up a year from now I'll cringe. I don't think it's necessary yet, but I'm excited to make a second page ~oooohhh~ dedicated to blog material. More important projects for now though! I'll definitely want to set up a github soon so I can view previous versions before they're all lost. Very important to be able to look back and cringe as this development continues. I need to chug through some more of my list from devlog 1 but for now I'll just add a dedicated css page and call today's website updates GOOD.
Oh and I'm temporarily changing the font to Arial, I'll pick a better one later.

I guess this devlog is going to be my first project on this website? Hooray! It's not exactly pretty or satisfying, either to setup or to look at. On that note, fixing this log up to be nicer is probably gonna be one of my top priorities for a while while I learn HTML and CSS. The updates I've made for today have been adding some text and my first image! (Gotta love Madoka <3) For now I'm going to make a list of my first goals for this site.
- Update the background to be cuter and not just a monotone color!
- Make a nice devlog/blog layout.
- Gifs! I want gifs scattered all over the site! Tuturu!
- I should probably figure out how to make everything a set position instead of based on browser size?
